With “Sima Pashtun” the Guadalajara-based Lara brother-duo have accomplished a first in the history of design. They were able to create a trompe l’oeil using a hand-knotted traditional medium in classical tibetan knot.

Sebastian and Mauricio approached the rug design and manufacturing process with a unique perspective: The rug is a space where physical and visual possibilities can be exploited in a non-conventional manner. In this instance, they successfully melded technological design tools and applied them to the ancient tradition of rug weaving. The result is a breath-taking effect.
