The aesthetic concept of Wagyu follows the line of previous works by Gabriel Rico, specifically from the series “Arquitectura”, in which pieces of meat are shown to represent human presence. To develop this new project, Wagyu meat -considered “the best meat in the World”- was taken as an aesthetic reference in its three variations: A5, A4, and A3. In these variations, the proportions of meat and fat can be graphically appreciated.

GABRIEL RICO

Gabriel Rico is a Mexican artist whose work aims to deconstruct and recontextualise the formulation of the art object to create pieces that fragment the composition of the contemporary human and evidence the geometric imperfection in nature. Through his combination of found, collected, and manufactured materials, Rico explores subjects ranging from the forms of invisible sound spectrums to our contemporary production and consumption of food.
