In his rug design, renown Puebla-based poster artist, Benito Cabañas proposes a space for introspection and social commentary. As with the rest of his work, Cabanas demonstrates mastery in visual communications that convey reality and generate awareness. Since 2002, Cabañas has used poster art as his primary medium and it is in through this mastery that he is able to convey complex ideas through the use of simple visual language.

In addition to their basic design function, hand-knotted rugs have also served as distilled mediums that communicate through symbols, geometric patterns and natural motifs that have specific meanings in each region where they originate. In this instance, Cabañas utilizes an ancient form to communicate a contemporary message.
