For 14 years, we have had a close relationship with the Wolfsonian Museum in Miami Beach. Our brand’s guardian, Jaime Odabachian, has served as co-chair of the Wolfsonian Visionaries, an advisory and outreach group formed in 2008; furthermore, our brand has been a firm supporter of the Wolfsonian’s mission.
Through this relationship with the institution and its chief curator, Silvia Barisione, we were invited to collaborate in the exhibition “Shameless”, the U.S. debut of the Rotterdam-based designer and artist Bas van Beek. An immersive, jewel-box exhibition for The Wolfsonian – FIU in an expansive Miami Art Week takeover of the museum’s South Beach site.
The piece “5xWP” is a new Wolfsonian-commissioned tapestry work designed by Van Beek, and drawn from Wilhelm Poetter modernist textile patterns.
The edition of 2 is made from New Zealand wool and cotton weft in Gobelin style technique, and measures 59in x 118in.
